The Department of Bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence Applications has a state-of-the-art molecular biology laboratory equipped with advanced equipment for nucleic acid analysis. Our laboratory enables: DNA extraction, DNA synthesis on a chip, DNA amplification, nanopore sequencing.

We are currently carrying out a number of research tasks, including:

  1. DNA Tagging and DNA Computing: Research on the use of DNA in advanced information and computing systems.
  2. PrimeSpecPCR: software to support the design of species-specific oligonucleotides for PCR/qPCR assays.
  3. Developing a new algorithm for encoding data in DNA: a multidisciplinary project integrating computer science with molecular biology to develop algorithms that increase the density of data storage in DNA and ensure high durability and efficiency in reading information from nucleic acid polymers.
  4. Genome analysis in the context of diagnosis and therapy of genetic diseases and in the context of phenotyping of microorganisms.
  5. Analyzing biological data using the latest data science tools.
