On February 29, 2024, the first meeting of Student Government Presidents with the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dariusz Wieczorek, took place within the walls of the Polish Parliament. Among the invited guests was Michał Orzyłowski, Chairman of the Student Government, representing the voice of the student community of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in the dialogue on the future of Polish science and higher education.

Minister Wieczorek stressed the importance of open dialogue with the younger generation and their influence on shaping the quality of education at Polish universities. During the meeting, the current activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education were discussed, including plans to amend the Law on Higher Education. The head of the Ministry of Science encouraged students to actively participate in social and scientific life, stressing that they are "a great pride of society" and have "powerful potential" in suggesting solutions to improve the quality of higher education in Poland.

Minister Wieczorek also noted that one of the priorities is to depoliticize universities, build good interpersonal relations and mutual respect. He announced the appointment of a minister plenipotentiary for student affairs, with the aim of working even better with young people and responding to educational challenges.

The meeting, which took place on that special day, February 29, was not only a symbolic moment in the calendar, but also a significant step toward building the future of Polish higher education.

Student Council The Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology expresses great hope that the initiative of such meetings with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will continue more often than once every four years. The February 29 meeting may be the beginning of a new tradition of regular and fruitful cooperation, which will contribute to the continuous development and improvement of Polish science and higher education.
