Data Collection Survey for Ukrainian IT Human Resource Development is a project initiated by the Japanese government agency Japan International Cooperation Agency  (JICA)  in close cooperation with the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw (PJAIT).

The course participants are university-educated people from Ukraine who, due to the political situation, had to leave their previous jobs and relocate. The goal of the training series is for them to acquire new skills in IT, which will allow them to find their way in the current job market in Poland. Our partner organizations including 5 NGOs: UNIQLO, Caritas Polska, Ukraiński Dom, Ukrainian Talent Foundation and Fundacja Ocalenie and a municipal office – Warsaw Labour Office were responsible for recruiting participants. A total of 100 participants enrolled in all the courses, which will improve their skills in Excel spreadsheet, the WordPress web development tool, and also learn Python programming.

The four-week-long series of IT training courses conducted by PJAIT graduates of Ukrainian descent is a pilot program, during which the participants have specific tasks to complete. The course will end with certificates confirming their commitment.

On July 17th, 2023, the opening of the courses took place, which was honored with the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Poland – Miyajima Akio. The meeting took place in a positive and supportive atmosphere, and Mr. Ambassador was eager to talk with participants about their motivations for taking part in the program. The weekly evaluation of teachers and participants will show whether and in what form it can be continued in the future.
