From December 9 to 11, 2025, a seminar with JICA, a long-standing partner of our Academy, was held at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw. Its purpose was to launch a two-year research project.

The project aims to improve the IT skills of Ukrainians in Poland, support the development of human resources in the IT industry in order to revitalize the Ukrainian IT sector, and support the development of the potential of Ukrainian institutions. In addition, it focuses on strengthening trilateral research cooperation, promoting research in the fields of artificial intelligence, data science, and digital technologies, creating sustainable research teams, and achieving internationally competitive research results.

Seminar schedule

Professors, doctors, and doctoral students from the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology met with professors from Japan and Ukraine to present their research topics. Seminar participants had the opportunity to exchange insights and discuss topics such as biomedical signal analysis, multilingual and cross-lingual disinformation detection, anthropomorphism (the interaction between art and technology), and transdisciplinary research based on data and XR technology.

Our guests in Warsaw included researchers such as Asato Yamada (Hokkaido University), Ryoma Shinto (Hokkaido University), Prof. Rafal Rzepka (Hokkaido University), Lara Aslan (Kitami Institute of Technology), René Meléndez (Kitami Institute of Technology), Prof. Michal Ptaszynskl (Kitami Institute of Technology), Prof. Yasuhiro Hayashi (Musashino University), Nataliia Lashchevska (State University of Information and Communication Technologies), Prof. Serhii Korotkov (State University of Information and Communication Technologies), Prof. Takafumi Nakanishi, Natalia Barchenko, and Prof. Volodymyr Liubchak (Sumy State University).

Activities

Despite a very busy schedule, seminar participants had the opportunity to take part in a masterclass with Witold Rychłowski, an expert in his field, a long-time lecturer in MBA studies for the IT industry, and a mediator in many international disputes, communication, and mediation in the world of research. During the lecture, topics such as convincing businesses of the value of the project and why it is worth opening up to research cooperation between international institutions were discussed.

Seminar participants also had the opportunity to attend the 13th Machine Intelligence and Digital Interaction conference, which took place on December 11, 2025, at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw. During the conference, panel discussions addressed current challenges in artificial intelligence, including AI ethics in higher education, social and legal aspects of AI, and interdisciplinary research in the fields of aviation, digital heritage, and biodiversity.

Cooperation PJAIT JICA

The cooperation between the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) dates back to the 1990s and has combined education, innovation, and social support from the very beginning. Thanks to this cooperation, the Academy has implemented, among other things, IT courses for refugees from Ukraine, such as Data Collection Survey (2023) and the second edition of Business IT Training Skills (2025), which provided participants with practical skills in Python, WordPress, and Excel, as well as support in entering the job market. It also organized Career Fair managed JICA's scholarship offer for postgraduate studies. Joint activities also include research projects with universities in Japan and Ukraine, focusing on artificial intelligence and digital transformation, which underscores the strategic and international nature of the partnership.

The research side of the project is supervised by Professor Maria E. Orłowska, Vice-Rector PJAIT, while the organization and methodology are the work of Marta Zofia Myszewska, Eliza Lipińska, and
. See the report from the graduation ceremony of the second edition of the JICA × PJAIT program:
