Farewell to M.Sc. Eng. Jan Jedliński

Jan Jedliński, MSc, Eng. was a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1971, he obtained his master's degree in engineering in the area of electrical engineering, with a specialisation in electrical apparatus. In 1973, he obtained construction qualifications in the area of constructing all types of electrical installations and equipment in general construction. In 1978, he completed postgraduate studies in Economics of Production Organisation and Ergonomics at the Faculty of Mechanical and Technology Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. Since graduation, he was actively involved in the SAWE Association of Electrical Engineering Graduates and the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP).

He began his professional career at Elektromontaż, a company manufacturing and installing electrical installations in industrial and general construction. There, between 1971 and 1985, he progressed from start-up engineer to work group manager. From 1985 to 1991, he served as contract manager for Elektromontaż-Export in Germany, where he supervised the work of several hundred designers and fitters. Upon returning from Germany, from 1991 to 1994, he was Chief Export Specialist at Elektromontaż-Warszawa, managing construction projects carried out in cooperation with the Austrian company ELIN. From 1994 to 2001, he was the director of the Polish branch of the German company OBO Bettermann, which manufactures electrical installations.

In 2001, he took up the position of Administrative Director, and in 2008, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology. He supervised the work of many administrative units of the academy as well as investment projects, the culmination of which was the construction of the new PJAIT teaching building in 2020. His most recent success was the opening of the new PJAIT headquarters at the Gdańsk Branch. Both of these investments, like many others, would not have come to fruition without his knowledge and dedication. He was an invaluable organiser of the entire life of the academy.

In 2014, he received a diploma of recognition from the Marshal of the Mazovian Voivodeship on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of PJAIT for his contribution and dedication to the development of the academy. In 2019, he received a distinction from the Rector on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of PJAIT for his outstanding merits and overall activities for the benefit of the academy. In 2023, he was honoured with the Medal of the 100th Anniversary of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering for distinguished activists of the SAWE Association of Electrical Engineering Graduates.

Director—as everyone called him—was a teacher, mentor, and advisor to many. He was an unwavering pillar and never let anyone down. He enjoyed the immense respect of the entire academic community of the academy. We will remember him as a sincere, straightforward, and extremely loyal man. Attentive to others and respected by all.
