On Thursday , December 11, 2025,the Evangelical Reformed Church in Warsaw hosted a calligraphy performance entitled "A Brush with Silence" – an event that filled the space of the temple with silence, concentration, and the art of writing for an hour.

For 60 minutes, 20 calligraphers from around the world worked simultaneously in silence, creating their works in various alphabets and writing traditions. The audience could observe calligraphy as a living process—meditative, full of concentration, yet expressive and extremely intense.

A special guest at the event was Brody Neuenschwander, a world-renowned calligraphy artist and performer, considered one of the creators who revolutionized contemporary thinking about writing as an artistic medium. For years, Neuenschwander has been combining letters with images, crossing the boundaries between text and visuality, and using a variety of materials and forms, from paper to film and performance. His projects, drawing on writing traditions from around the world, show calligraphy as a dynamic, experimental, and deeply cultural art form.

The performance was open to all lovers of the art of writing, culture, and silence—and became a unique experience of shared mindfulness, observation, and contemplation.

The interior of the church is illuminated in blue. Calligraphers work at stations set up throughout the temple.
