Małgorzata Zaleska

To begin with about professional work. What is your area of professional specialization?

I specialize in banking with a particular focus on financial safety nets. For years, I have been combining academic and teaching work with involvement in business practice in key management positions. I am fortunate that I enjoy my work and it brings me satisfaction.

What challenges do you face in your professional work?

I think that probably like most of us, I feel the scarcity of time to fulfill my many professional intentions. Hence the importance of setting goals and prioritizing them properly. The challenge, moreover, in virtually every organization, is the management of people and the fact that we have been living for several years in a time of permanent crisis, its successive iterations, accompanied by widespread volatility and uncertainty.

What are the key issues addressed by subject the curriculum you run for the MBA program?

subject addresses a fundamental issue in everyone's life and business - namely, financial security. Among other things, the course presents institutional measures to strive for such security (such as the actions of the central bank), as well as the possibility of assessing the security of savings in banks and investments in the financial market. In addition, the financial condition of not only banks is analyzed, but also methods of assessing the financial condition of companies are presented.

What do you find most important in the transfer of knowledge related to the subject taught in college?

The most important thing, in my opinion, is to get the Students interested in the topics I cover. In addition, to draw Students into a discussion of current topics in the world of finance and banking, and to show the causes and consequences of events in the financial markets and the system of interconnected vessels surrounding us in the area of finance and banking.

What topics do you most often discuss with students in your classes? What do students find most interesting?

Students are interested in the world of banking, such as the level of interest rates, bank fees and commissions, banks characterized by financial problems, banking products and services, including loans, such as the so-called "franking" loans.

What skills do students acquire while studying the subject you teach on the MBA?

I think that the Students primarily acquire the ability to identify risks and their diversification. In addition, they should acquire the ability to evaluate banks and business entities, from the point of view of financial security. During the class, I also present an early warning system, i.e. how not to become a customer of a bank facing bankruptcy or orderly liquidation (resolution).

How can they use this knowledge in their professional work?

The activities of any entity are related to finances, and the need to ensure their security is indisputable. It is also worth mentioning that the world of finance and banking is increasingly based on modern technologies. Many Scholars participate from the IT side in the implementation of projects for banks, including in the area of cloud implementation, or artificial intelligence. The tangent between finance and IT is undeniable.

What do you find valuable in working with MBA participants at PJAIT?

Thanks to my work with MBA Students at PJAIT , I have the opportunity to learn the point of view of people who work in the broader IT field on a daily basis. From my professional experience and participation in implementation projects, I know how important it is for IT professionals and economists to understand each other's expectations.

How do you perceive the profile of an MBA student?

An MBA student is open to further professional development and the acquisition of new knowledge and unique competencies, as well as to so-called networking.
