Krzysztof Górlicki

1 To begin with about professional work. What is your area of professional specialization?

Information and Communication. I have been working in the media for over 20 years. At the same time, I run my own company, where I focus on design and information architecture. I have been an academic lecturer for 10 years. At the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, I teach Public Speaking and the innovative prototyping process - Design Sprint.

2. What challenges do you face in your professional work?

We live in a world of high competitiveness, volatile environment and unpredictability. The speed with which we can react to change is playing an increasingly important role. The times of quiet growth are behind us for now. One of the biggest challenges is to convince the environment that despite the uncertainty, we still need to experiment more and faster.

3. What are the key issues addressed subject by the curriculum you are teaching in your MBA program?

I teach two subjects. In my Design Sprint classes, I encourage experimentation with new products and services. I teach the ingenious process of testing and generating Design Sprint solutions. It is used by the most innovative companies in the world.

On the other hand, in Public Speaking workshops, I help those who feel apprehensive about speaking at meetings or conferences. I open heads, teach proven presentation structures, techniques for engaging listeners, and remind them that the most important thing is not how the speaker will perform, but what he or she will get.

4. what is the most important thing for you in the transfer of knowledge related to the taught subject in your studies?

What is important is that the audience is able and able to use the knowledge provided. Inspiration and motivation for action are also important. Even the greatest visions will fly away if we don't do something for them.

5. What are the most common topics discussed with students in your classes? What students are most interested in?

Future, people, business. We talk and discuss about the changing world. About how to run companies and how to build relationships with partners and employees. Theory is not enough for us. We ask how "this thing" works or can work in practice. The most interesting are workshops, tasks and discussions about specific solutions used in organizations.

6. What skills do students acquire while studying the subject you teach on the MBA?

Listeners of Public Speaking learn how to quickly construct effective speeches or crisis messages. I suggest how to get rid of stress and what to focus on during a speech.

After the Design Sprint class, students know how to conduct a Design Sprint for a new product or service. They appreciate agile methodologies and experimentation. They have at their disposal a tool used by Google, Facebook, Salesforce, HBO, Lufthansa, Lego or the United Nations, among others.

7. How can they use this knowledge in their professional work?

Fast. One of the biggest benefits of an MBA is the wealth of practical knowledge that can be immediately applied to organizations. I regularly get signals that one of the speech structures learned in class worked great at a conference, or that the Design Sprint process helped solve a - until now - "unsolvable" problem and bring a product or service to market.

8. What do you find valuable in working with MBA participants at PJAIT?

Exchange of knowledge and experience. Each class is a two-way transmission. We leave "sweat, blood and tears" in the classroom. For that we take away new experiences and inspiring knowledge and energy for action.

9. How do you perceive the profile of an MBA student?

Ambitious, intelligent and demanding. Thirsty for knowledge and new challenges. He is a man who does not just accept what life serves. He is a man who wants to co-create the world. This is how I perceive the profile of our student. It is a great honor for me to co-create MBA classes for the IT industry at PJAIT.
