On Sunday, April 26, Warsaw hosted one of the largest and most innovative social events of the year— the Smash & Grill Party. The event at RQT Spot attracted students from over 15 Warsaw universities, proving that inter-university integration in the capital is reaching a whole new level.

A Leader with a Vision: PJAIT Local Government of the Future Initiative

It is worth noting that the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology was the originator and main leader of the project. It was Student Council PJAIT Student Council thatPJAIT the initiative to bring together Warsaw’s academic communities.

This initiative is part of the overarching mission of PJAIT Student Council, which aims to build lasting ties with all universities in Warsaw. The goal is to create a unique space for knowledge transfer, networking, and building relationships among students from diverse academic backgrounds.

A groundbreaking format

The Smash & Grill Party went down in history as the first event in Warsaw to be co-organized by such a large group of universities (excluding student festivals). This unprecedented success drew over 600 participants, combining athletic competition with the traditional spring atmosphere.

Program and Attractions

The event was based on three pillars: physical activity, a shared meal, and festive music.

  • Sports Zone: Students competed on the padel, pickleball, and mini-golf courts. Boules, cornhole, and flanks were also very popular.
  • Chill and Food Zone: At the heart of the event were two large bonfires, numerous smaller grills (with vegetarian and halal options), and smash burgers.
  • Musical entertainment: The evening featured live guitar performances and sets of the biggest Polish and international hits.

Identification System and Networking

A key element that facilitated networking was the system of colored wristbands. Each participating university was assigned a specific color, including:

  • PJAIT – red
  • SWPS University – black
  • Warsaw University of Technology – orange
  • Warsaw School of Economics – green
  • Łazarski University – dark orange
  • The other participants were given white armbands, on which we wrote the names of their universities with markers.

Organization and support

The main organizers— Oliwia Skoczylas, Barbara Łapa, andMikołaj Piołun-Noyszewski—oversaw the planning and smooth execution of the event. The project would not have been possible without the dedication of the team of volunteers and the support of the local governments of the partner universities, which actively participated in the preparations.

Co-organizers: PJAIT, SWPS, UTH, PW, AMH, Łazarski, SGH.

Media partners: Kozminski University, University of Physical Education, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, ATA, Civitas University.

Thank you all for coming! Special thanks go to our host, Ms. Aneta Ługowska (Head of Student Community Relations), as well asAmit Tilani and the entire RQT Spot team for their professional support and for providing this unique space.
