A response to the needs of the aviation industry

The challenges facing the aviation industry in recent years, and even more so the dynamically occurring changes in safety and airport operations, make it necessary for leaders driving development in the aviation industry to continuously improve their qualifications. In response to this need, the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, experienced in training managerial staff, together with Polish Airports, has created a unique and unrivalled curriculum – MBA for IT in the aviation industry.

On March 11, 2023, the initial year of these studies was started by experienced leaders coming from various companies in the aviation industry, such as Polish Airports, Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, LS Airport Services, ACS (operating within PPL), as well as from outside the industry: Hilti Group and Sabre Corporation.

MBA for IT Air in numbers

Over 10 months, during 13 Meetings, 22 students undertook 24 subjects, taught by 16 lecturers – true experts in their fields, not just theorists, but above all practitioners who shared their rich professional experience. At the end of the academic year, they faced 1 oral exam covering the issues of the entire curriculum and testing the acquired competencies.

Development in the field of IT

The curriculum places special emphasis on development in the field of IT. As part of project management-related subjects, we offer, for example, agile organization management in IT (Agile Coach), while subjects directly related to the aviation industry cover topics of aviation cybersecurity, airport marketing and advertising, as well as aviation law.

Both theory and practice

The uniqueness of this project is also revealed in the organization of studies, specifically in the alternation of Meetings – alternately full-time and online. This is a deliberate action aimed not only at focusing on workshop work, but also at enabling effective networking and face-to-face experience exchange.

As part of theoretical classes, students had the opportunity to learn about the work of air traffic controllers during a two-day Meeting at the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency. Additionally, classes in the area of aviation management took place at Chopin Airport in Warsaw and at Warsaw-Radom Airport.

We educate the best

In summary, MBA for IT in the aviation industry is not only acquiring knowledge, but also investing in the development of skills, leadership abilities, and adaptability to the dynamic realities of business. Our graduates are qualified professionals who are also initiators of innovation in their organizations, and from January 1, 2023, thanks to the obtained MBA diploma, they are authorized to sit on the supervisory boards of State Treasury companies. We believe that the knowledge acquired during these studies becomes a key tool in achieving excellence in aviation industry management and in shaping its future.

Testimonials from graduates of MBA for IT in the aviation industry

“What prompted me to undertake MBA for IT (Air) studies was the place where I work – Polish Airports. I wanted to acquire broader knowledge about business management technology in such a specific environment.

What interested me during the studies were primarily very interesting lectures on airport marketing, which broadened my knowledge of the non-financial benefits of the aviation business.”

– Katarzyna Michalska, IT Project Manager, Polish Airports

“During MBA studies, the most important thing I gained were topics related to human relations – psychology, cooperation issues, both supervisor-employee and within the organization; character traits, the ability to utilize positive aspects in various people in order to accomplish common tasks.”

– Mariusz Kurach, Acting Head of the IT Strategy and Development Department, Polish Airports

“I have been working in the aviation industry for over 20 years, and I was looking for a place that would allow me to develop and update my knowledge to current trends in aviation. I was looking for an area of information that would be consistent with IT information in aviation. I mean skills related to the application of artificial intelligence, GPT chats, ones that would allow (...) to respond on an ongoing basis to the challenges facing aviation.”

– Robert Ochwat, Director of the Training Office, Polish Air Navigation Services Agency
