Concepts project at Lodz Design Festival 2025
From May 20-25, the "Concepts / Concepts" project will be presented at the Łódź Design Festival 2025. The festival, for the 19th time, will become a platform for dialogue between creators and global and local issues. In the face of technological challenges, climate crisis and changes in human relations, the festival inspires reflection on the role of contemporary design. The Lodz Design Festival 2025 will present an unveiling of the project with a new selection of works and arrangement.

The "Concepts / Concepts" project explores interpretations of concepts at the intersection of written language, visual (artistic) language and artificial intelligence, focusing on individual relationships in understanding these concepts. Its goal is to explore whether verbal and visual representations of concepts have the same capacity for meaning. Participants in the project were asked to represent one selected concept (word) through a written statement, an artistic statement (static and video works), and to provide the 20 most accurate near-symbolic terms for their chosen word. The descriptive part and the close-meaning words (prompts) provided the material for generating AI images. In this way, two, often divergent, interpretations of the same term were created: those created by the author and those created by artificial intelligence. The project, over its one-year duration, involved nearly 300 students from 22 universities around the world.
