PJAIT students' animations are back at an international festival!

"A Puppet Is a Person, Too" Puppet Theater and Animation Film Festival for Adults

This is a unique event on Warsaw’s cultural scene that demonstrates that puppetry is by no means reserved exclusively for children. The festival presents puppet theater as a contemporary, challenging, and metaphor-rich form of artistic expression aimed at adult audiences.

In 2026, the festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary edition, which will take place in October. The program will feature performances by artists from Poland and abroad, animated films, exhibitions, meetings with artists, and accompanying events held at various cultural venues throughout Warsaw.

An important part of the festival is the international competition, in which the jury awards prizes for, among other things, best production, acting, and creativity. The audience also selects its own winner.

The event’s international character and high artistic quality have also been recognized on the European stage. “A Doll Is a Person Too” received the Remarkable Arts Label, an award granted as part of the Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (EFFE) initiative.

Our students’ work will be on display on October 20 and 21 at the Kultura Cinema. We invite everyone interested in seeing the fascinating work our students create and in learning how they translate their ideas, creativity, and artistic sensibility into the language of animation.

Works by students on display

The collection presented here is a carefully curated selection of films produced over the past three years under the guidance of experienced faculty members. The program primarily features graduation films created by students in full-time programs—taught in Polish and English—as well as part-time programs.

The exhibition showcases a wide range of techniques, from traditional animation to modern digital solutions, as well as an exceptional variety of themes explored by the students. For years, Faculty of New Media Arts at theFaculty of New Media Arts Academy of Information Technology has placed great emphasis on the development of the art of the moving image, making animation one of the key pillars of its curriculum.

This is a unique opportunity to see how a new generation of artists from various fields of study interprets contemporary reality and uses advanced technological tools to create original, personal narratives.
