Julia Fijałkowska’s works have been selected for two prestigious international art events— the 9th Székelyföldi Grafikai Biennálé in Romania andthe 20th INTERBIFEP—International Biennial Festival of Portrait in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Julia’s work, titled*Awareness*, was selected for the 9th Székelyföldi Grafikai Biennálé – Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland. An international jury composed of artists and art historians decided which works would be included in the official exhibition.

"Awareness" was created as part of Julia's thesis project and explores the themes of self-portraiture, self-observation, and the perception of one's own identity. Prof. Andrzej Kalina is Julia's academic advisor.

This year’s edition of the biennial brought together over 1,000 artists from 71 countries, who submitted a total of over 2,000 works. The theme of the event was “Torzulás” (“Distortion”), referring, among other things, to ways of perceiving reality, as well as the changes and uncertainties characteristic of the modern world.

The biennial exhibitions are held in Sfântu Gheorghe andMiercurea Ciuc. The opening of the exhibition atthe Szekler Museum of Ciuc took place on September 30, 2026.

Two of Julia's works were also selected to be featured atthe 20th INTERBIFEP – International Biennial Festival of Portrait in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

INTERBIFEP is an international biennial dedicated to the broadly defined concept of the portrait, encompassing, among other things, printmaking, drawing, photography, and video art. The works related to the theme of the portrait that Julia submitted were selected by the jury and included in the official exhibition.

The exhibition opened on September 17, 2026, at the International Gallery of Portraits in Tuzla and will run through November 25, 2026.
