PJATK Bioinformatics Club - a student scientific club operating at the Department of Bioinformatics

On October 22, 2024, a new scientific club - PJATK Bioinformatics Club - was established at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology to enable students to develop their knowledge and skills in the field of bioinformatics.

The club works in close cooperation with the Department of Bioinformatics at PJAIT (under the leadership of dr hab. inż. Adam Kuzdralinski). Currently, PJATK Bioinformatics Club has 18 members, Tetiana Klimenko became the chairman of the club, and Dr. Jakub Jakowiecki from the Department of Bioinformatics became the scientific supervisor.

The club's activities cover a wide area range of topics, such as the analysis of biological data (genomics, proteomics), molecular modeling, evolutionary simulations, and the use of artificial intelligence methods in the analysis of biological and medical data, in DNA sequencing, and for protein structure prediction . Club members will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, research projects and scientific events, collaborating with experts and companies in the bioinformatics industry.

Members of the PJATK Bioinformatics Club attend weekly meetings of the club, where they discuss organizational matters and learn practical skills , such as programming in R and Python, analyzing and comparing nucleic acid and protein sequences, structural modeling of proteins, and drug design. In addition, it is planned to participate in workshops, hackathons, and conferences, which will enable members of the circle to gain experience and make professional contacts. In addition, it is planned to organize its own workshops in bioinformatics. The interdisciplinary nature of the circle's activities will allow cooperation with other circles and chairs of the university, dealing with related fields such as artificial intelligence or biomedical engineering.

PJATK Bioinformatics Club is a space for students who want to develop academically and professionally in the field of bioinformatics. The club's activities will contribute to the development of the university, strengthening its position as an educational and research center and supporting students in their academic and professional development.
