Urban Digital Twins: Exploring Case Studies and Use Cases for Sustainable Urban Development

  • Professor of Smart Cities at HTW Berlin and the first professor in Germany to be appointed to a position in this field.
  • He studied urban planning at the University of Dortmund and at La Sapienza University in Rome.
  • He earned his doctorate at the Institute for Social Sciences at Humboldt University in Berlin, with the support of scholarships from the DAAD and the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
  • He served as a DAAD representative and professor of European Studies and Regional Development at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.
  • From 2015 to 2018, he coordinated the integrated Urban Transformations project at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig.
  • At HTW Berlin, he teaches and conducts research in the fields of real estate economics, urban planning, and Smart City concepts.
  • He is the spokesperson for the "Sustainable Smart Cities" research cluster.
