We invite all students at PJAIT to a free course on combating misinformation.

PJAIT Together with partners from Poland, Finland, Bulgaria, and Cyprus, we are presenting a course titled:Media Education: Countering Misinformation and Debunking. It was developed as part of the European projectInfotester4Education. It will include both a theoretical component and a practical component based on workshops and group exercises. The sessions will cover the most important issues related to countering disinformation, such as:

  • Basic definitions and mechanisms of disinformation;
  • An Introduction to Fact-Checking;
  • An overview of cognitive biases and the sociological foundations of belief in misinformation;
  • An overview of the most common manipulation techniques;
  • Analysis of ethical and legal issues related to combating disinformation;
  • Modern Methods for Fostering Critical Thinking.

The course is open toall students at the University of Economics in Katowice ( PJAIT), regardless of their major or year of study. It will be conducted in both English and Polish. The course consists of 30 instructional hours and will run throughout the winter semester, once a week in an online format. Upon completion of the course, students will receive an official diploma and be awardedan additional 5 ECTS credits. These credits will not count toward semester or year completion requirements; rather, they constitute an additional pool of credits that will be listed on the diploma of graduation.

Classesin Polishwill be heldon Wednesdaysfrom 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The first class will be on October 7, 2026, and the last class will be on January 27, 2027.

Classesin Englishwill be heldon Fridaysfrom 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The first class will be on October 9, 2026, and the last class will be on January 29, 2027.

Registration is done via the form. Space is limited. The deadline for registration is October 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
