Program structure and organization of studies

Part-time studies last for four semesters. Classes in each semester take place during eight Meetings covering Saturday and Sunday (usually scheduled every two weeks), plus an additional Meeting dedicated to the examination session.

Most courses consist of 16 hours of lectures and 16 hours of seminars or lab work.

Semester 1

During the admissions process, applicants choose a specialized field. These are:

— AM = Software, Business Process, and Database Engineering
—BM = Mobile Device and Cloud Computing Technologies
—DS = Data Science
— EM = Interactive Multimedia
— JM = Advanced Immersive Technologies and Artificial Intelligence

The choice of specialization area determines the track of the master’s seminar and the set of specialized courses specific to that group of specialization areas. The seminar, held during the first semester, allows students to become more familiar with the issues within a given specialization area and to select a thesis advisor and a thesis topic.

In addition, a language course is offered during the first semester. Students may choose to take the course online.

Semester 2

In the second semester, students take additional specialization courses and two elective courses chosen from a list of three. These are:

— Advanced Modeling and Analysis of Information Systems
— Graphs and Their Applications
— Artificial Intelligence in Digital Signal Processing

This semester’s seminar is already being conducted in accordance with the chosen topic of the master’s thesis and under the supervision of the advisor selected at the end of the first semester. The selection of elective courses mentioned above should also be made in consultation with the advisor. 

In addition, a language course is offered in the second semester. Students may choose to take the course online.

Semester 3

In the third semester, in addition to required courses, students take specialization and elective courses, as well as a seminar and a language course, in accordance with the guidelines described earlier. 

Students must complete two elective courses from among the following:

— Natural Language Processing
— R: Programming and Data Analysis
— Data Integration and Data Warehouses

Semester 4

In the fourth semester, students are required to take two elective courses from among the following:

— Analysis and Exploration of Large Datasets
— Distributed Systems and Service Integration
— Big Data Security

The seminar and foreign language course are conducted on the same principles as in the previous semester.

At the end of this semester, the master's thesis defense takes place.
