The project management area focuses on the combination of IT technology with managerial and business aspects, organizational issues in IT projects, and IT applications where domain analysis is a key problem. Graduates of this area can become valued specialists in, among others, the following areas:

• managing project, software, and implementation teams,
• management positions in project and process organizations,
• any projects (IT software and infrastructure projects),
• consulting companies, banks, software development departments, IT infrastructure maintenance, etc.

Aside from the issues of executing IT projects, this area also addresses the support of any projects through IT-based solutions, as well as the application of IT in management and the economic and managerial dimension of IT projects.

Elective subjects required or recommended for the project management area

— Project Management (required, unless similar issues were covered during completed first-cycle studies)
— Advanced modeling and analysis of IT systems (recommended)

The thesis projects carried out within this area covered the following topics:

• support for project management or project communication using IT tools
• implementation or improvement of project management methodologies used in an organization,
• organizational and IT support for human resource management,
• organizational and IT support for stakeholder management in a project,
• human factor issues in IT projects,
• analysis of the effectiveness of traditional or agile methods of IT project execution,
• solutions supporting requirements engineering in IT projects,
• solutions for risk management in IT projects,
• scalability of agile methodologies,
• project financing methods based on Blockchain technologies,
• ITIL service lifecycle.
