Program structure and organization of studies
Full-time studies last three (or four) semesters. Classes are held Monday through Friday. Unless otherwise specified, each subject consists of 30 hours of lectures and 30 hours of seminars or laboratory work.
Classes in each semester are held over a 15-week period, followed by an exam session. Most courses consist of 30 hours of lectures and 30 hours of seminars or lab work.
Semester 1
During the admissions process, applicants choose a specialized field. These are:
— AM = Software, Business Process, and Database Engineering
— BM = Mobile Device and Cloud Computing Technologies
— DS = Data Science
— EM = Interactive Multimedia
— JM = Advanced Immersive Technologies and Artificial Intelligence
The choice of specialization area determines the track of the master’s seminar and the set of specialized courses specific to that group of specialization areas. The seminar, held during the first semester, allows students to become more familiar with the issues within a given specialization area and to select a thesis advisor and a thesis topic.
In the first semester, students take two specialization courses (corresponding to their chosen area of specialization) and three elective courses, chosen from a list of four. These are:
— Data integration and data warehouses
— Natural language processing
— Artificial intelligence in digital signal processing
— R: programming and data analysis
Semester 2
In the second semester, students take two additional specialization courses and two elective courses chosen from a list of three. These are:
— Project Management
— Advanced Modeling and Analysis of Information Systems
— Big Data Security
This semester’s seminar is already being conducted in accordance with the chosen topic of the master’s thesis and under the supervision of the advisor selected at the end of the first semester. The selection of elective courses mentioned above should also be made in consultation with the advisor.
Semester 3
In the third semester, in addition to required courses, students take subject , elective courses, a seminar, and a language course, following the guidelines described earlier.
Students must complete two elective courses from among the following:
— Big Data Analysis
— Distributed Systems and Service Integration
— Graphs and Their Applications
— Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (subject in English)
— From Brain Neuroinformatics to Artificial Intelligence in Neurology (subject in English)
At the end of this semester is the defense of the master's thesis.
