Animations by two students from the PJAIT Faculty of New Media Arts have qualified for the O!PLA 2023 National Animation Festival – the work "Atom" by Wiktor Klimaszewski and "Don't Let Go" by Marta Linkowska.
The works were created under the supervision of Professor Edyta Adamczak (Faculty of New Media Arts, part-time studies).
Video and music: Wiktor Klimaszewski
A visual and musical story presented through dynamic stop-motion animation, prompting the viewer to reflect on transhumanism, the role of man in the system, and human insatiability. The whole experience is complemented by the atonal melodies of an analog synthesizer, whose sound has been enhanced with digital effects.

"Atom", the basic building block of matter, means something in Greek that cannot be cut or divided. The visual and musical story, shown through dynamic stop-motion animation, provokes the viewer to reflect on transhumanism, the role of man in the system, and his insatiability. The whole is complemented by the atonal melodies of an analog synthesizer, whose sound has been enriched with digital effects. The inspiration during the creation of this film was the words of Vernor Vinge, quoting: "Soon we will create intelligences greater than our own. When this happens, human history will reach a kind of singularity, an intellectual transition point as impenetrable as the curved spacetime in the middle of a black hole, and the world will cease to be understandable to us" (Vinge 1993). The author of the film does not propose a single correct interpretation, but encourages the viewer to make it based on their life experiences and sensory perception.
