According to Eurostat, the creative sector in the EU generates 4.4%
of GDP (€700 billion per year), and in Poland is responsible for 2.3%
of the economy (PLN 60 billion). In Warsaw, which is the heart of Poland's
creativity, it is estimated that nearly 40% of startups initiated
are in the creative sector, with as many as 18% of residents working in
industries such as IT, film and design. Experts stress that it is
the innovations from this sector that are driving the development of
the economy today.

The sector's huge economic potential, but also its great educational needs, are behind the decision to launch a dedicated development and acceleration program. The National Chamber of Commerce, which is the operator of the city's incubator called the Targowa Creativity Center, together with the Warsaw City Hall, today announced the call for applications for the third edition of the Warsaw Creative Slam (WCS).
