Notice of the death of Professor Marcin Giżycki
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Professor Marcin Giżycki, an outstanding art and film historian specializing in animated film, from the first to the last edition the artistic director of the Animator International Animated Film Festival in Poznań, and since the very beginning of the Faculty of New Media Arts at PJAIT, its lecturer. Professor Marcin Giżycki also lectured at the Rhode Island School of Design (USA). He wrote eight books and over 350 articles in Polish and foreign periodicals. He directed about 30 documentary, animated, experimental, and live-action films, awarded at home and abroad; two of his films are currently displayed at the "New Beginning. Modernism of the Second Polish Republic" exhibition at the National Museum in Kraków. He was a globally respected ambassador of Polish animated film.
We have lost a wonderful friend of the world of art and science, a great enthusiast and an extraordinary erudite.
