Notice of the death of Professor Marcin Giżycki
It is with great regret that we announce the death of Professor Marcin Giżycki, an outstanding art and film historian specializing in animated film, from the first to the last edition of the Animator International Film Festival in Poznań, and from the very beginning of the Faculty of New Media Art PJAIT its lecturer. Professor Marcin Giżycki has also taught at the Rhode Island School of Design (USA). He has written eight books and more than 350 articles in Polish and foreign periodicals. He has directed some 30 documentaries, animated, experimental and live-action films, which have won awards at home and abroad; two of his films are currently being screened at the exhibition "New Beginnings. Modernism of the Second Republic" at the National Museum in Cracow. He was an internationally respected ambassador of Polish animated film.
We have lost a great friend of the world of art and science, a great enthusiast and an extraordinary erudite.
