We cordially invite you to the opening of Prof. Maki Nagumo's exhibition entitled. "Hakkaisan. Colors and Shapes of Water," which will be held on May 16 at 5:00 pm in the main lobby of Building A. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Jakub Karpoluk (PJAIT).

The exhibition is a part of the Cross-culture Art and Design Workshop Week 2023, an international art and design workshop organized by Dr. Jakub Karpoluk and Dr. Jan Piechota (lecturers at the Department of New Media Art). In May, the workshop will host lecturers from Rikkyo University and Tama Art University in Tokyo.

Prof. Maki Nagumo (Rikkyo University) has regularly, for many years, collaborated with PJAIT, conducting classes together with Dr. Jakub Karpoluk and workshops on traditional Japanese nihonga painting.

Works by PJAIT students created under her supervision in cooperation with Dr. Jakub Karpoluk, Dr. Jan Piechota and M.Sc. Marcin Wichrowski were shown at exhibitions in Kanazawa and Tokyo.

This time we are proud to present Professor Maki Nagumo's original exhibition at the gallery PJAIT . Her works have received numerous awards in Japan and around the world. In Poland, they will be shown in such a wide range for the first time. At the exhibition "Hakkaisan. Colors and Shapes of Water" brings together works (linocuts and woodcuts) that are studies of natural phenomena and landscapes showing the landscape of Niigata Prefecture, where the author is from. All the engravings were printed on handmade Oguni washi paper using mineral pigments and Japanese sumi ink, also made from natural materials. The motto of the exhibition is "Toward nature, by natural means." With his works, Maki Nagumo raises the question of the artist's responsibility to the environment, which is able to provide not only subjects, but also biodegradable materials. Maki Nagumo's engravings, as intended by the artist, are part of the natural circulation of matter.

The exhibition will run until the end of May.
