Piotr Milewski was born in 1975 in Chelm, and grew up in Opole. He studied in Poznan, Vienna, Pasawa, Philadelphia, Sapporo and Otaru. He spent nine years in Japan. He has received scholarships from the Fulbright Foundation, the Ministry of Education of the Empire of Japan and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Four-time winner of the Magellan Prize of the "Books" Literary Magazine. Laureate of the National Geographic Traveler and National Geographic Poland magazines.
Author of bestselling books: "Trans-Siberian. By Iron Road Through Russia and Beyond" (2021), "Japanese Diaries. Notes from the Year of the Rabbit and the Year of the Horse" (2022), "Iceland or the Coldest Summer in Fifty Years" (2018), "Planet K. Five Years in a Japanese Corporation" (2020) and "Tokyo. Tales from the Lower City" (2023). Co-author of books: "Hokkaido - Japan without geishas and samurai" (2006), "Asia. Travel Stories" (2018) and "Island. Travel Stories" (2019).
