We would like to invite you to the exhibition "PHENUMA", which will be held from May 7-9, 2024 in the Kyu6u Gallery and adjacent common space on the 1st floor of Building A of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology.

The author, Sylwia Zolkiewska , presents the results and synthesizes the conclusions of her five-year doctoral research, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ewa Satalecka at the Department of New Media Art. She relates her artistic activities to visuality and aesthetics in the era of the dominance of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

The title of the exhibition - "PHENUMA" - is a combination of the words "phenomenon" and "numa" (ancient Greek "divine spirit"). The theme of the works is a visual reflection on the essence and phenomenon of images in the mobile age and their unique language and aesthetics. The multimedia present in the exhibition are inspired by the mobile interfaces studied by the author and the specific interactions that take place on them. They also refer to theoretical considerations about the specifics of the medium - mainly medium theory - and the concept of image, screen and interface as a mirror. The whole is an introspection on the reality modeled by mobile technologies and aims to encourage reflection on their impact on our perception.
