Starting September 27, we invite you to the Museum of Caricature for a unique exhibition dedicated to various warriors and female warriors known from manga and anime. Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology is a partner of this event.
In recent years, Japanese manga has become a cultural phenomenon. The power of manga attracts readers all over the world. Poland is no different, where manga has achieved popularity among readers of all ages.
The exhibition Manga. The Way of the Warrior presents the variety of styles of Japanese manga, explains its origins and its historical and cultural contexts. It shows how manga has changed over the years and the role it plays in Japanese society.
In every generation, warrior characters have contributed to the popularity of Japanese manga abroad. The title warrior at first brings to mind samurai figures from jidaigeki. However, this is not an exhibition about Japanese knights. The motifs of battle run throughout. Also as a metaphor for struggles with the world and life. Every heroine is a warrior. Every hero is a warrior.
The exhibition Manga. The Way of the Warrior is an opportunity to see characters from well-known series such as Naruto, Dragon Ball and One Piece. Are you fans of younger titles? The exhibit will also feature Denji from Chainsaw Man or Hoshino Ai from Oshi no Ko, and if you're still not encouraged, we're willing to bet you'll be coming to the Cartoon Museum for Gojo Satoru. (Yes, there will be boards from the fight with Toji.)
The theme of the road will be incorporated into the exhibition layout and will have a digital counterpart. QR codes will be woven into the trail, which will take us to additional information. In addition to graphics, the exhibition will also feature manga-related artifacts and gadgets - unique items prized by collectors, such as figurines and cards.
But that's not all. A Japanese geek's room will be created in the lower room of the Caricature Museum. Tatami mats, shelves of manga, magazines and figurines will be at visitors' disposal. There is nothing more to do but drop by the Caricature Museum!
The exhibition is curated by Radoslaw Bolalek. The exhibition is in cooperation with manga publishers from Poland and Japan. The exhibition is supported by the National Plan for Reconstruction and Resilience Enhancement.
