Workshop "From mask to theater"

The Theater Institute and the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology invite you to a presentation and discussion of the works of male and female students created as part of the international project "From Mask to Theater" on November 29 from 10:00-12:00.

From November 25 to 29, PJAIT is pleased to host students and lecturers from the University of Reggio Calabria, ESAD Porto and Democritus University in Thrace. The hosts and guests will collaborate with the Ethnographic Museum in Krakow and the Theater Institute in Warsaw to organize a traveling exhibition, and participate in international educational workshops.

The "From Mask to Theater" project combines tradition with modern technology, celebrating the heritage of ancient theater masks. The workshop began in May 2024 on one of the Aeolian islands of Lipari, where the Luigi Bernabò Brea archaeological museum houses Europe's largest excavation of theater masks and collections relating to the ancient mask. The students were tasked with using the latest digital techniques to archive, document and present the collection to the public. In the first stage of their work, they produced documentation to create a virtual tour of the museum and excavations, digital scans and 3D models of selected masks, and designed the workshop's identity and website, where further results of the activities are posted. In November, participants from Italy, Greece, Portugal and Poland will meet again, this time at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology.

On November 29, we invite you to a presentation and discussion of the prototypes of the works, which will be held at the Theater Institute in Warsaw. A meeting with the public and experts, as well as a critique of the projects, will serve to improve them and prepare them for the exhibition in the most attractive way possible for visitors to the exhibition.
