Student Rights Expert Conference

As every year, a representative of the Student Council of our academy took part in the renowned 10th Student Rights Expert Conference, which took place from August 24 to August 27, 2023, in Kraków. Our delegate was Michał Orzyłowski, a part-time student at the Faculty of Information Technology and the President of the Student Council.

The dynamics of student rights and responsibilities constitute an essential aspect of academic life. Evolving regulations governing student rights (such as the Law on Higher Education and Science, the statute of the academy, the study regulations) are subject to constant changes. Therefore, this area requires continuous expansion of knowledge.

Representatives of 88 different academies from all over the country took part in the event. The total duration of training sessions during the Conference was approximately 12 hours.

Course of the event

During these four days, two-day training sessions were held. The first day focused on substantive aspects. The sources of knowledge regarding student rights and responsibilities, existing regulations concerning higher education in relation to students, and planned changes in regulations that will come into force in the upcoming academic year were discussed. The second day concentrated on the methodology of conducting training and effective knowledge transfer. The acquired skills will help in further promoting information about the rights and obligations vested in students.

At the end of the Conference, an engaging debate entitled “Support from the academy in the area of defending the rights of students” took place with exceptional guests from the academic community, specialists in the field of student rights. The debate presented diverse points of view on student rights and responsibilities, both from the perspective of current students and those who have already completed their education but remain connected to the academy community. As part of the official closing of the Conference, participants were awarded Student Rights Expert certificates.
