Bio

[born 1952 in Lidzbark] - graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw [diploma in the studio of Prof. Andrzej Rudzinski - 1980]. He received his PhD degree from the Faculty of Arts at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin [2003], and his habilitation degree from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw [2010]. He runs the Studio of Artistic Graphics at the Faculty of New Media Art at PJAIT in Warsaw. He works in artistic graphics, installation, environment, creates artistic objects. Since 1978, he is a founding member, together with Andrzej Dworakowski and Marek Jaromski, of the "Workshop" group. He has presented his works in more than 60 solo exhibitions and more than 450 group exhibitions in Poland and abroad [including France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Japan].

He has won 35 awards and prizes, including the 1st International Graphics Triennial in Cracow [1991] and the 13th Józef Gielniak Graphic Competition in Jelenia Góra [2016]. His works are in the collections of Polish museums and in world collections, including The British Museum in London and MoMA in New York. In 1990, he was included as one of 13 Polish graphic artists in the Dictionary of World Graphic Artists published by the Japanese. In 2013, he was included in the Encyclopedia "Allegemeins Kunstlerlexikon" by Andreas Beyer, Benedicte Savoy, Wolf Tegethoff (eds.). In 2020 he was awarded the "Gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis" by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sports, Prof. Piotr Gliński.
