The thesis projects of Zofia Chętkowska and Julia Staszczyszyn, graduates NeMA PJAIT the YODEX 2026 exhibition in Taipei!

The thesis projects of Zofia Chętkowska and Julia Staszczyszyn, graduates of the master’s program offered by the Department of New Media Art PJAIT (track ), were presented at the exhibition Young Designer’s Exhibition (YODEX) 2026 in Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, from May 22–26.

About the exhibition

YODEX, organized by the Taiwan Design Research Institute, is one of the world’s largest exhibitions of graduation projects by design students and one of the most important annual events showcasing design achievements in Taiwan. Launched in 1981, the exhibition serves as a platform for college graduates, allowing them to showcase their work and establish industry contacts. Thanks to Ms. Chętkowska and Ms. Staszczyszyn, PJAIT intellectual achievements were presented at the exhibition for the first time.

Zofia Chętkowska’s work, titled *Manggha Narratives: An Augmented Reality Exhibition* (Manggha Narrations: Augmented Reality Exhibition), created using AR technology, serves as a unique guide to the grounds of the Manggha Museum, whose main building was designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki (1931–2022) and which constitutes a significant element of Kraków’s urban fabric. In this work, the artist innovatively utilized materials, including drawings, from the archive of Andrzej Wajda (1926–2016), the museum’s founder.

As part of her thesis project titled “Digitalization of Museum Artifacts: The Uchikake Kimono from the Feliks ‘Manggha’ Jasieński Collection” ( Digitalisation of Museal Artefacts: The Uchikake Kimono from the Feliks “Manggha” Jasieński’s Collection), prepared a digital reconstruction of a 19th-century uchikake kimono from the collection of Feliks “Manggha” Jasieński (1861–1929), housed in the National Museum in Kraków. The thesis consists of an interactive informational installation about the kimono and an animated film.

The thesis projects were carried out in collaboration with the Manngha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków. Dr. Jakub Karpoluk served as the primary advisor for both projects. On behalf of the museum, the projects were coordinated by Deputy Director Aleksandra Kalfas and Curator Joanna Haba. Both theses were presented to the public as part of an exhibition at the Manggha Museum.
