A visit by representatives of the sister cities—Okinoshima and Krotoszyn—to PJAIT

We invite you to a unique encounter withthe art of ikebana as presented by the Sogetsu School— an art form in which nature meets the conscious design of form and space. The demonstration will take place on Thursday, October 15, at 5:00 p.m. in Auditorium B1 atPJAIT.
The guest of honor at the event will be Ms. Kasia Purton-Dmowski, an artist and ikebana instructor at the SogetsuSchool and winner of the 2020 Ikebana Gallery Awards Gold Medal. Drawing inspiration from nature and contemporary art, as well as drawing on her experience in gardening and garden design, she creates expressive botanical compositions in which form, space, and dynamics come together with the beauty of nature.
During the first 30-minute part of the meeting, we will explore the roots and history of ikebana, its philosophy, and the special relationship between humans and nature. We’ll also discuss the scientific aspects and patterns found in the natural world—geometry, rhythm, proportions, and dynamics—and how they are reflected in the art of ikebana.
Next, theory will give way to practice. Before the audience’s eyes, Sogetsu-style arrangements will be created, demonstrating how tension, balance, and movement can be built using branches, flowers, and thoughtfully shaped space. This will be an opportunity to see how seemingly simple elements of nature take on a new dimension through artistic interpretation.
We invite you to a world where nature becomes the subject of art, and space—an integral part of it.
