Sogetsu Ikebana Demonstration – The Geometry of Nature

On October 1, a delegation from the Polish and Japanese sister cities of Okinoshima and Krotoszyn visitedPJAIT . The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Maria Orłowska, Vice Rector of the PJAIT ; Dr. Jakub Karpoluk; Dr. Piotr Milewski (Faculty of Culture of Japan PJAIT ); and Ms. Marta Myszewska, Head of the Promotion Department ( PJAIT), who also gave the delegation a tour of the university campus.
The Japanese delegation was represented by: Mr. Kōsei Ikeda—Mayor of Okinoshima; Daisuke Abe—Chairman of the Okinoshima City Council; Hajime Fujino—Director of the Department of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism at the Okinoshima City Hall; Takemoto Kōta—an employee of the Department of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism at the Okinoshima City Hall—and Justyna Sermet—an interpreter (an employee of the Okinoshima City Hall through the JET Program—from CLAIR).
The delegation was accompanied by the former Japanese Ambassador to Poland, Mr. Makoto Yamanaka, who played a significant role in establishing cooperation between Okinoshima and Krotoszyn. The Polish side was represented by Ms. Katarzyna Grobelna, the coordinator of international cooperation at the Office of the Mayor of Krotoszyn.
The discussions focused on the nature of Polish-Japanese cooperation at the local level, with an emphasis on the role of educational institutions. The participants emphasized the need for cultural, artistic, and scientific exchange, as well as issues related to youth education and support for the development of local industries, which could be provided by PJAIT.
This visit marks the beginning of a new kind of Polish-Japanese cooperation at the local level, in which our academy will play an active role.
