The Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology hosted the "Tokyo Vibe, Warsaw Drive" hackathon, an event focused on road safety, immersive technologies, and the use of car driving simulators.
The centerpiece of the event was a passenger car driving simulator developed atPJAIT Patryk Kamiński as part of his master’s thesis in computer science, with a specialization in Interactive Multimedia. The project allowed participants to see how technologies used in games, interactive applications, and simulation systems can support education, research, and the design of solutions related to road safety.
As part of the hackathon, participants worked on competition tasks related to, among other things, secure doors for electric cars and the creation of assets for a driving simulator using 3D scans and visual materials available online. The tasks combined creativity, 3D design, knowledge of the Unity environment, and reflection on the real challenges facing the modern automotive industry.
The hackathon was part of the broader “Tokyo Vibe, Warsaw Drive” program, which included lectures, meetings with experts, and presentations on road safety, autonomous vehicles, driving simulators, driver cognitive functions, and urban digital twins. Among the invited guests were representatives of public institutions, organizations involved in road safety, the automotive sector, and experts in modern transportation technologies.
During the event, participants had the opportunity not only to develop their own projects but also to expand their knowledge through lectures by experts in fields such as road safety, autonomous vehicles, the psychology of driving, emergency response, and Smart City technology. Another key part of the program was testing driver reactions using a realistic driving simulator.
We would like to thank all participants, speakers, guests, and everyone involved in organizing the event. “Tokyo Vibe, Warsaw Drive” demonstrated that combining technological expertise, multimedia design, and real-world social challenges can lead to inspiring solutions and creative collaboration.
The event was organized by the Multimedia Department at PJAIT.
