Professional Academic Career Office at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology

Project implemented by the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund.

Project Objective:

The project activities will cover 660 students and graduates of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology of the last two years of full-time and part-time studies Bachelor's degree , all years of second-cycle studies and the last 4 semesters of single master's studies of all departments of the university, i.e. Department of Computer Science, New Media Arts, Department of Information Management and Japanese Culture - 242 women and 418 men. Through participation in the project, they will gain access to professional services in the area of competence testing and designing a career path and entering the labor market or starting their own business.

The Academic Career Office will be enriched with 2 new persons - a career counselor, and a career counselor on legal aspects of doing business. These persons will be covered by a training program covering, among other things, assessment, creation of competency profiles, conducting workshops shaping soft competencies, entrepreneurial competencies, and in the area of modern methods of obtaining work and tools for testing competencies used in PJAIT.

For the ABK, 2 integrated IT tools will be made available, with functionalities that enable professional competence tests and the creation of aggregate reports linking educational outcomes to labor market needs. Training courses and new tools will enable the implementation of a new catalog of services in which, in addition to professional individual counseling, training workshops will be made available to students, workshops with innovative companies, strategy games to support the development of soft competencies, and specialized services aimed at foreign students.

The project also includes an expansion of existing activities, e.g.: job fairs and workshops with employers.

Schedule:

  • Implementation of training courses for employees of the Academic Career Office (NOMAD platform, running an entrepreneurship and negotiation strategy game, ABK portal, specialized English, training for entrepreneurship counselor, group training MODULE A and B, on-job training) - from December 2017 to January 2019.

MODULE 1: Labor Market Orientation.

MODULE 2: Practical Skills in Recruitment.

MODULE 4: Innovative methods of applying for jobs.

Training: March 22, 2018; April 4, 2018; April 5, 2018; April 12, 2018.

  • Implementation of a catalog of new services including counseling on ENTREPRENEURIALITY and self-development (information campaign, conducting recruitment, conducting group workshops, conducting a strategy game, conducting individual counseling, implementation of a package of services directed to foreigners) - from November 2017 to October 2020.
  • Implementation of new services from the area of PROFESSIONAL CONSULTATION and expansion of activities from the area of cooperation with the labor market (conducting outreach activities on new services of the Career Bureau, enrolment permanent for participation in individual counseling, conducting group workshops, conducting a strategy game, conducting Assesment Center/Development Center sessions, organizing job fairs and workshops with employers, creating a repository of recordings of workshops with employers) - from November 2017 to October 2020.
  • Provision of tools necessary for ABK to measure competencies and harmonize activities with labor market needs (development of professional competency tests, integration of the ABK platform with NOMAD, supplementation of the ABK platform with functionality linking reported internship and apprenticeship offers with learning outcomes for individual specializations) - from November 2017 to April 2018.
