It is with great sadness that we inform you that Professor Krzysztof Marasek, our friend, colleague, head of our Department and mentor, passed away on November 13, 2019.
He was an outstanding person. Professor Krzysztof Marasek was a specialist in technical informatics and telecommunications. He was involved in artificial intelligence, methods for describing and creating multimedia content, long-term data archiving, speech signal processing, experimental phonetics, machine translation and the field of HCI, or human-computer interaction, which was his specialty. He also conducted research on speech synthesis systems.
In his work, Professor Marasek was an inspiration, distinguished by his innovation and courage in setting new research goals. He has been a lecturer at our university and head of the Multimedia Department for many years.
Active, sociable, kind, always smiling and ready to help colleagues, co-workers and his students. He always offered good advice, and there were no impossible things for him either.
