Candidates
Candidates applying for a doctorate in fine arts at the Faculty of New Media Arts of PJAIT can submit applications to open doctoral proceedings to the Dean of the Faculty, dr hab. Ewa Satalecka – ewasatalecka@pja.edu.pl ; phone: 22 58 44 548 Dean's Office of NeMA.
The application should include:
- a proposal for the topic and concept of the doctoral dissertation, indicating the area of knowledge, field of art, and artistic discipline [Area of art, field of art: fine arts; artistic discipline: fine arts] (Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of August 8, 2011, on areas of knowledge, fields of science and art, and scientific and artistic disciplines) within which the doctoral procedure is to be initiated, as well as the additional discipline taken as part of the doctoral examinations;
- a copy of the document confirming the possession of a Master's degree;
- a proposal for a person to act as a Supervisor, and in justified cases - such as the need to assign a Supervisor to assist in the scientific and artistic care of the candidate - also a proposal for a person to act as an assistant Supervisor;
- a list of artistic achievements (solo and group exhibitions, plein-air workshops, workshops, competitions, a list of state decorations, awards, distinctions, badges, medals, etc.) along with documentation of the artworks appropriate to the type of work and documentation of their public presentation (reproductions of artistic works [prints, digital recordings], catalogs of solo exhibitions [photocopies or selected originals], programs of selected artistic and educational projects, reviews of creative work, including press reviews, etc.) and information on activities promoting art;
- information on the course of the doctoral procedure, if the candidate has previously applied for the conferral of a doctoral degree;
- a copy of pages 1 and 2 of your ID card;
- personal questionnaire with a photograph;
- confirmation of professional career or artistic career (portfolio) verified by the employer;
- certificate of employment and professional work history from the employer covering the costs of the procedure (does not apply to PJAIT employees);
- declaration by the university, institution employing the candidate, or the candidate themselves regarding the coverage of the procedure costs (does not apply to PJAIT employees);
- the candidate is additionally required to prepare a short electronic presentation of their achievements (up to 20 MB, to be sent electronically to the members of the Faculty Council);
- in the case of holding a certificate confirming proficiency in a modern foreign language – also a copy of this certificate.
The candidate may attach to the application for the initiation of the doctoral dissertation the opinion of the person holding the title of professor or the degree of doctor habilitated, as well as the consent of the candidate for the suopervisor to assume this function and his opinion on the initiation of the dissertation (along with his statement that he is familiar with the concept of the dissertation and all the dissertation documentation submitted by the candidate), and in the case of participation in the dissertation of an assistant Supervisor - also his written consent to assume this function.
The candidate may also submit an application for the faculty council's approval to present the doctoral dissertation in a language other than Polish.
The application along with the above-mentioned documents should be submitted in a binder (individual parts of the documentation should be clearly separated).
The application along with attachments must also be submitted in electronic form.
The documentation submitted by the candidate (application + attachments) must be authenticated with a handwritten signature.
The information should be provided in a thematic and chronological layout. Documents submitted before the initiation of the procedure cannot be corrected, supplemented, etc.
The Faculty of New Media Arts at PJAIT offers Candidates preparatory courses and workshops, conducted in the form of Meetings by an international faculty of lecturers and experts 1x a month on Friday afternoon – Saturday – Sunday until noon, totaling 10 sessions per semester.
The aim of the course is to introduce research methodology and develop the skills to write a theoretical paper at an international level.
