We invite you to listen to the podcast "How was it really?" Radio Krakow, whose guest was again lecturer PJAIT, Dr. Jakub Karpoluk. The meeting was held under the theme "Modernity versus tradition and honor. Who was the 'Last Samurai'?".

"The Last Samurai," directed by Edward Zwick in 2003, takes us to 19th century Japan. We meet American Captain Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise), who arrives in the country to train the new armed forces. It turns out that a group of samurai, led by Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe), is opposed to modernization and Western influence. He pays homage to traditions and ancient customs. An American captain gets captured by them. However, he becomes attached to the lifestyle of the samurai and the customs that prevail among them, so that in the end he moves together with them to battle the imperial army, which he had previously trained. Is the film based on authentic events? That's what Mateusz Bożek checked with Jakub Karpoluk of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw.
