Folk "spiders" are chandelier-like decorations that were hung on the eastern wall of the living room. These spiders, also known as "kierce," bring good luck and prosperity wherever they appear. They are made from natural materials: straw, yarn, frayed canvas, and paper. They were found throughout Poland. The spiders took on various shapes, ranging from simple crystalline forms to very complex, intricate structures.
