To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Department of New Media Art at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, we invite you to an exhibition of works by our faculty, who have been helping to shape our university’s artistic identity for two decades.
The opening reception will take place on November 6, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the lobby of Building A at thePJAIT , located at 86 Koszykowa Street in Warsaw.
The exhibition is an opportunity to discover the work of individuals who share their knowledge, experience, and artistic passion with students on a daily basis. The works on display showcase the diversity of creative approaches and artistic styles represented by the faculty of the Department of New Media Art.
20 Years at the Intersection of Art and Technology
The history of the Department of New Media Art dates back to the late 1990s, when a meeting between Prof. Marian Nowiński and the administration of what was then the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology sparked discussions about combining art education with computer science.
The growing interest in computer graphics, animation, multimedia, and game development served as the impetus for a new direction in the university’s development. In 2003, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, andin October 2005, Faculty of New Media Arts began operations.
Over the next two decades, the Department grew into a hub for artistic education, experimentation, and international academic and research collaboration. Today, its faculty includes graduates who began their artistic journeys atPJAIT.
The anniversary exhibition is therefore not only a showcase of the faculty’s creative work, but also a narrative about the history of the Department, its development, and successive generations of artists and designers.
This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Marian Nowiński, a co-founder of the Department of New Media Art, whose vision of combining art and technology became the foundation of his work.
