Financial security

The purpose of the course is to emphasize volatility and the essence of risk and ways to identify it in financial markets. The class will discuss macroeconomic and institutional ways of striving for financial stability, including, among other things, the activities of central banks, financial market supervisors and crisis management mechanisms in the markets. It will also be important to learn how to assess the financial health of banks and evaluate the risk of their failure. The author’s early warning system for identifying „chances” of bankruptcy will be presented. The class will be enriched with the presentation of the creativity of financial analysis, allowing for a different representation of the economic situation of a given economic entity.

Cybersecurity – Kamil Wiśniewski

Nowadays, Cyber Security issues affect every organization and absolutely every technology related to data processing or management of information systems. Knowledge in this area is useful regardless of the duties performed and the role in the organization. This class is designed to introduce Cyber Security issues to people who have not previously dealt with related issues professionally.

Design sprint

Design sprint is a method, widely used worldwide and increasingly in Poland, for solving design problems quickly, with the aim of minimizing work and effort: time and cost. As part of the course, students will learn what the Design Sprint process is and learn how to use it. This structured process of proceeding, which is used by the most innovative companies in the world, allows to instantly generate and test solutions to difficult problems or business ideas and create better products, services and strategies.

Design thinking – Anna Kornacka

Design thinking

Design Thinking is an approach to creating new products and services based on a deep understanding of user problems and needs. It is a process that refers to the cognitive, strategic and practical processes through which design concepts are developed by designers or design teams. The goal of the DT method is to solve problems, creating new, innovative products, services or processes by identifying the true needs of a single user. Knowledge of how to work with this method, and the ability to apply it in practice, are often an important asset in the market, as well as can be a competitive advantage for a given company.

Gamification – Paweł Tkaczyk

Gamification

Gamification is the injection of an element of „fun” into everyday activities that until now have not necessarily been fun – such as learning or shopping. In practice, gamification is the implementation of mechanisms known from games (not only computer games) into everyday activities. The training will teach how to apply these mechanisms in practice. A well-planned and executed game can make a real difference in the financial results of many a company.

IT Governance – Jakub Bojanowski

IT Governance

The subject of this class is to discuss the most popular principles of good practice in managing the IT area in an institution and the topic of cooperation between the management of the IT area and the managers of the institution (management, board of directors). It will discuss the different perspectives from which various managers view IT processes in the institution, as well as discuss the differences in how IT projects are viewed from the perspective of the sponsor and the project manager. Internationally recognized COBIT and ITIL standards and norms will be discussed as the substantive basis for IT Governance solutions. In the course of exercises incorporated into the class scenario, selected managerial tools will be used: SWOT analysis, RACI matrix, maturity model (CMM). As a follow-up to the general regulatory requirements, the (specific to the financial sector, but applicable to other institutions) Recommendation D of the FSA, and the EBA and FSA guidelines on outsourcing services and cloud technology will be discussed. Illustrating the theoretical part will be a case study, based on which participants will have the opportunity to apply their professional experience in the practical application of IT Governance solutions to a hypothetical business scenario. The case study will be expanded to include IT auditing issues, where knowledge of auditing standards will be combined with practical tips on how to work with an auditor.

Negotiation is a sequence of mutual actions , through which the parties seek to achieve the most favorable possible resolution of partial conflicts of interest, while they must be aware of the partial community of interests. Participants in the lectures will acquire knowledge of human motivation and behavior – very necessary in the design of materials accompanying advertising campaigns. Knowledge of the decision-making process in an individual client and the dynamics of interpersonal relations in groups, knowledge of motivational mechanisms – from psychological foundations to practical applications.

Neuromanagement

Neuromanagement is a review of the latest neuroscience research in terms of its usefulness in management. Neuroresearch is currently developing at an extremely dynamic pace, its results are often invaluable knowledge about the mechanisms occurring in teams, which conscious managers can use to increase work efficiency, prevent conflicts and crises, manage their own and team members’ energy and build a friendly organizational culture. During the course, selected aspects of brain functioning are discussed, such as memory and attention to decision-making, or the application in managerial practice of the results of research on mirror neurons.

Especially these days, when we communicate electronically. In this situation, voice and facial expressions become our main means of communication.

During the lectures of the course New Technology Law, the Listener will become familiar with such issues as, among others, new models of management and protection of technology, protection of intellectual property, or competition and consumer law and new technologies.

Economic forecasts are an indispensable part of any decision-making process regarding investment or other allocation of resources by companies, public and private institutions. Sometimes forecasts are purely intuitive – for example, when a company decides to hire a new sales director, its management predicts, based on various qualitative information, that the new director will achieve certain results. Often, however, forecasting must be more rigorous, based on in-house models or analysis provided by specialists. When a company decides to make a large investment, both its owners and financial institutions will demand forecasts to justify the risk. What purposes do forecasts serve? What methods are used for forecasting? What role do rigorous models play, and what is the importance of intuitive assumptions? What programs can be used for forecasting?

In management, achieving success is the most important goal of the efforts and endeavors that are the result of work leading to an increase in efficiency and the way in which human resources are managed in it. area The thematic course „Psychology of leadership and decision-making” includes issues related to the effective performance of leadership roles in the organization and related competencies. In the framework of the conducted workshops, students will develop their skills in communication with employees, ways to motivate them and effectively go through changes in the organization . Participants in the class will determine their management style and the related consequences for subordinates. As part of the course, students will learn about business psychology issues (e.g. dealing with resistance to change, building a team from a group of people, etc.), which will facilitate their managerial roles and equip them with tools for even more effective management in companies and organizations.

What is a good image and acceptance of a company’s activities? A properly planned and executed public relations campaign is more than a set of call to action messages like „Buy now!” A campaign is structured in which we first build aided and spontaneous awareness of the brand, then generate emotional affect, then create points of distinction, and only finally induce purchase. The aim of the course is to show what stages an advertising campaign consists of (along with sample creatives at each stage), show ways and tools to measure the effectiveness of a campaign.

As part of the course, students are introduced to the art of public speaking. They receive knowledge that allows them to quickly and effectively prepare their own public speech and deliver it. They learn about the issues of rhetoric, verbal and non-verbal communication, as well as techniques of persuasion and influencing others. In addition, they have the opportunity to hone their skills in practice by performing in front of others.

Participants in the course of lectures and personal skills development workshops will acquire knowledge and practice the elements of conscious conflict management. They will learn skills to recognize potential sources of conflict and identify key elements of a conflict situation and ways to manage conflict. Participants will practice elements of mindful communication to support conflict resolution. Elements of creating a sustainable competitive advantage based on proven methods and processes from both Western and Far Eastern cultures, as well as methods of adapting historical patterns to current dynamic market requirements will be discussed and practiced.
