About the Department of Japanese Culture
Current Orders of the Dean of the JJC:
Faculty of Culture of Japan PJAIT runs Bachelor's degree, the subject of which is Japanese language and culture. These studies, carried out in the field of cultural studies, have a practical profile. Firstly, they give good language preparation - male and female students after 3 years of study have mastered the Japanese language to at least a basic level (full-time students can master it to an intermediate level). Secondly, skills in the use of computer techniques and new media (word processing, image processing, presentations and projects) are developed during workshop-type classes. Apprenticeships of 720 hours over three years are also part of the program. Teaching is conducted in full-time and part-time modes.
Subjects taken at the JCJ provide an in-depth knowledge of Japan's ancient culture and its classical forms, such as theater, literature, fine arts, aesthetics and religions. At the same time, students are introduced to the modern face of the country today. The lecturers (including native Japanese speakers) present the latest phenomena in cultural and social life, current trends in mass and popular culture, including film, comics, modern media, as well as introducing them to the realities of life, giving a total knowledge of Japan "inside out." In workshop-type classes, students develop skills that find application in their professional work in popularizing culture. It can be said that the equal portrayal of Japanese tradition and modernity - where modernity is presented against the background of a wide panorama of ancient forms - is a unique feature of the studies at PJAIT.

JLPT exam
The JLPT, or Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (Japanese: Nihongo Nōryoku Shiken), is the most important certification exam for Japanese language learners. Its successful passing allows for an internationally recognized Japanese language proficiency certificate. In many countries, it is held once or twice a year - on the first Sunday in July and/or the first Sunday in December.
In Poland, the JLPT is organized by PJAIT, acting in cooperation with the Japan Foundation and the Embassy of Japan. We are the only one in Poland to have the opportunity to conduct the exam, which is becoming more and more popular every year!

What after graduation?

An essential area of competence for JCJ graduates is knowledge of a foreign language - primarily Japanese. This means employment prospects in the process of servicing Japanese tourist groups as guides, assistants, pilots, stay organizers. In all these functions, both knowledge of the language and culture of Japan, as well as cultural studies orientation in the area of Polish cultural heritage and intercultural transmission of knowledge on this subject, are of unquestionable value. Studies also prepare for scholarship stays in Japan (including in the framework of exchanges organized by PJAIT) and for independent trips.
Thanks to a harmoniously structured program, combining theoretical knowledge with practice, graduates are qualified to work professionally in various capacities in institutions with a socio-cultural profile. Since the program also includes subjects of general humanities, the licensees will be prepared to undertake graduate studies in other fields (humanities, social sciences, languages).
