We would like to invite you to an exhibition of student works entitled Design for Digital Reading - Designing for Digital Readers.
17:00 | 15.01-30.01.2025
Public Library of the Capital City of Warsaw
Main Library of the Mazovia Province
Koszykowa 26-28, Warsaw
The projects presented in the exhibition were created during an international workshop conducted in the European educational exchange program: Erasmus+ Blended Intesive Projects, which brought together students and lecturers from Belgium's Hasselt University PXL-MAD, Portugal's IPCA Barcelos and Poland's PJAIT in Warsaw. The project ran from March 2023 to October 2024. Those involved in the project, meeting with representatives of local libraries, undertook an investigation of the changes taking place in text access techniques in European reading culture. They observed how the presence of analog and digital media is evolving in reading. They considered how this affects publication design.
Today, in the digital age, we are experiencing a significant diversification of reading cultures. Over the past two decades, technological advances have radically changed media and, in the wake, habits. It has affected literacy levels and even the time we spend reading. Yet many readers and designers remain unaware of these changes.
Those involved in the project asked themselves: what can we change in design for the modern reader? How can we redefine the reading experience on digital and analog platforms through innovative, subtle typographic solutions? In an attempt to answer, they experimented with a new approach to digital reading. As a result, here are prototypes of several possible solutions, proposed by international design teams.
Let's reimagine the future of reading together.
The comments and feedback on this exhibition - your comments - will help improve the prototypes. They will support young designers in preparing to design in line with the needs of today's readers
Project Reading on Screen was developed within the framework of the international Blended Intensive Project workshop implemented with funds from Erasmus+.
