Do you need a degree in computer science to start studying Cyber Security?

A degree in computer science is certainly helpful, but those with a degree in engineering or other sciences can also find their way in the world of cyber security.

The platform features hands-on labs, pdfs and videos that make the threshold for entry into the world of cyber security very low.

Does participation in the study require a special computer and software?

The lab assignments are placed in cloud computing and can be accessed through a VPN channel. To do this, you need to install any VPN client that will allow you to connect to the labs in the cloud. Step-by-step instructions on how to do this are posted on the platform. The installation takes a few minutes.

For specialized cyber security tasks, install Kali Linux, again there is a video instruction on how to do it on the platform.

In case of technical problems, both the technical department and Tutors are ready to help.

When can practical tasks be performed on the platform?

The hands-on labs are placed in the cloud and can be accessed by the student through the CyberSkiller platform. Access to the platform is guaranteed to the student from anywhere, 24/7.

Does graduating from college provide employment opportunities as an entry-level cybersecurity professional?

Graduation alone does not guarantee employment, but on the technical side the students will be ready for it. We have information from listeners of the first editions that during their studies they applied for jobs in IT with positive results (students can get a report of their activity on the platform with achievements and recommendations from the head of studies - it supposedly helps in getting hired).

If I have difficulty solving tasks, can I get help from a specialist?

Teaching is supported by a Tutor, i.e. a lecturer at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Computer Technology, who monitors the students' implementation of the material.

The tutor is available to students throughout the learning process and will answer questions, both substantive and those related to career development in the cyber security field, through an email channel.

Students are given access to a discussion forum designed for postgraduate students The forum is moderated in asynchronous mode by lecturers of the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw.

Does the study teach practical skills, or does it focus more on theory?

The study is ultra-practical, students will solve more than 500 practical tasks during the entire study, which are available in the cloud through the CyberSkiller platform.

Theoretical issues are also important, but they are introduced through the videos provided, which include sample solutions to practical tasks with detailed explanations.

What are the prerequisites for graduation?

It is a prerequisite to pass all subjects specified in the study program

The student gains access to practical additional (credit) tasks within each subject. Solving these tasks is the basis for passing a module. The listener solves credit tasks at any time during the course of study.

Each semester ends with an exam, which will be held in an online format, in a controlled self-study mode (camera on, monitoring of the work environment). The exam will last 180 minutes and will cover the material covered during the semester. The exam is practical in nature and will be conducted on the CyberSkiller platform. It will be a list of practical tasks to be performed, prepared in the same formula as the subjects previously implemented on the CyberSkiller platform.

Meeting with managers of postgraduate programs

No one will tell you more about the studies offered by Centre for Postgraduate Studies than those who created them. We invite you to watch and listen to the interviews with the managers of the postgraduate and MBA programs (including the head of CKP Ms. Marta Godzisz), conducted by Ms. Aleksandra Szyr.
